Dr. Jonathan Royle is a controversial character in the world ofhypnosis, perhaps better known for his shameless self-promotion, murky, chequered past and public arguments with various other hypnotists.
On his latest DVD set, he is loud and swears too much for my liking. He’s arrogant and opinionated and obviously has an over-inflated ego. So why is it that I actually find him likable and funny while watching ”Transparency Template – The revolutionary Guide for Hypnotists?”
I’m not sure, but what I do know is that I really like this DVD set and you probably will too.
This is very detailed and comprehensive home study course covering all of the important stuff you simply need to know if you’re even considering setting foot on stage, street or anywhere and calling yourself a hypnotist.
He dispenses with a lot of the usual theory behind hypnosis but in its place he spends an extraordinary amount of time discussing the legal, licensing and insurance issues which are always such a hot topic in the UK.
However, the advice and guidelines are presented in such a way as to make perfect sense, relevant to any hypnotist anywhere in the world.
I was expecting him to air a couple of “personal beefs” during his presentation and was even prepared for them to leave a nasty taste in my mouth, but I have to say for the relatively short space of time he spends on this (a couple of minutes at most) what comes across first and foremost is his genuine concern for the art. And you really can’t knock him for that.
If you look hard, you will find inevitable contradictions throughout the course, but Jonathan happily admits up front: Hypnosis is full of paradoxes.
Attention to safety for me is a win-win situation. While clients, audiences and volunteers might not always outwardly thank you for it, if it permeates what you do it shows a professional and caring nature behind all the laughter and crazy antics and helps get you booked and re-booked.
Furthermore, fellow professionals really appreciate it too. During this course, the safety aspects are covered with fine, almost paranoid attention to detail and I applaud Jonathan Royle for this.
One thing that really stands out is that he doesn’t ignore any of the problems and dangers a hypnotist is likely to face.
He doesn’t even just give them an honorary mention. He faces them head on and discusses them in the manner of one who has been there, done that and worn the t-shirt and implores you to learn from his own stuff-ups.
“Common sense” is mentioned frequently in relation to safety and most of it is, but a lot of what’s taught here should be mandatory for any hypnotist whether you’re just starting out or are experienced and guilty of having become a little complacent.
There are more inductions than any hypnotist would ever need and each is covered with the same attention to detail. Something of a bonus here for me is when the new “Bad Boy” of UK Hypnosis Rob Temple steps up to show his ingenious See-saw Induction. His demo leaves me itching to perform it myself.
Rather than just act as superfluous credits on the cover, Rob and other guests are utilised perfectly throughout the course and each is a great presenter and speaker in his own right, demonstrating the same enthusiasm for their chosen artform as the man himself.
To say much more would probably be classed as a spoiler, but I have to just add that the bonus DVD (regularly referred to during the main presentation) in my opinion is worth the price of this set all on its own.
If I have anything negative to say, apart from the fact that the bad language might not be to everyone’s taste it would only be that like most DVDs in this field, production values and quality are a little lacking, but that can be easily forgiven for the quantity and quality of content on offer here.
A full transcript would also have been a welcome addition for those who have difficulty with Northern English accents or of different learning styles, but these really are very minor niggles making an otherwise 5 star review a 4.9!
Whatever you might think of self-professed “King of Hypnotists” Jonathan Royle, that’s unlikely to change very much, but if you are too stubborn to put any preconceptions aside to buy and watch this DVD set, then you’re really missing out on an excellent hypnosis training product.
I’m really happy to have this as part of my hypnosis collection and have little doubt that if this is your first purchase in this field, you’ll probably have little need for very much else.

John Barnett What can I say. A truly life changing day. The banter down the pub(s) was just as valuable I think as we all gained insights into each others lives, beliefs and ways of working.The day was fantastic, seeing Alex teach tarot in 15 minutes floored me.
As for Paul.
Professional from start to finish, nothing held back and then to top it all his live show using members of the public who had no knowledge of his methods was stupendous. No gimmicks, no tricks just pure theatre.
I understand you two are planning on another day and charging £97 for it.
PUT THE PRICE UP, it’s worth twice that at least.(Plus I don’t want the competition because I am working on an act as we speak.)

I would like to correct you on several Points. 1) I think that it is important for everyone to be legal and to do things properly. All Alex is trying to do is make people aware that being safe and legal is important. It is all about integrity! Doing things the right way so everyone is Safe and happy both the hypnotist and members of the public. Especially if you are going to film people and publish it on You tube or charge people.

There’s No Such Thing As Hypnosis

A couple of years ago, Jonathan Royle, the bad boy of stage hypnosis, decided to get into the training game and he now promotes several different events a year. Last weekend I attended his “There’s No Such Thing As Hypnosis” seminar in Birmingham. However, before I could do so, I was obliged to watch the fifteen (yes…fifteen!) DVDs that he sends out to participants beforehand, which include a previously filmed version of this seminar as a ten DVD set, a three disc set entitled “Secrets of Professional Stage Hypnosis” upon which he demonstrates no less than eighteen different rapid induction techniques (amongst other things) and his two disc “Secrets of Professional Hypnotherapy” course.
It’s as well that I was diligent enough to watch these DVDs in advance, as Royle had decided that since everyone was getting the entire seminar on disc, he might as well give them a completely different one, meaning that although there was some crossover, delegates effectively got two seminars for the price of one. Good value by most people’s standards…particularly considering that before lunch on Saturday he succeeded in deconstructing much of Derren Brown’s repertoire…not that he stopped there…just for good measure, he also threw in a demonstration of how to give cold readings.
Saturday afternoon moved on to selling oneself as a hypnotist/’psychic’/mind magician, covering radio and television interviews, the internet and psychic fairs, it included a screening of his now infamous appearance on Channel Four’s “the Darker Side of Stage Hypnosis”. This is where things started to get really controversial, not just because of his past, but also because of his premise that ‘there’s no such thing as hypnosis’, which is central to both this seminar and the DVDs.
According to Royle, all hypnosis is at worst little more than a trick based upon a mixture of social compliancy and “the karaoke effect” and at best, self hypnosis…if you believe in self hypnosis. Regardless of whether you disagree completely with him or not, it’s easy to see how he may have formed this opinion. Having made his stage debut at the tender age of three and a half, courtesy of his veteran entertainer father Les, he grew up around circus performers and magicians, and has performed magic since his childhood, so to him everything including stage hypnosis is an effect…or to use his technical term, a “con”…at least that’s what he says…some delegates took him at face value while others attempted to read between the lines.
Rounding off the first day, to a big laugh, he opened a flipchart revealing the eighteen (yes…eighteen!) certificates that participants take away from this training…with a huge caption stating “this is bull****”, then proceeded to use them as a metaphor for creating one’s own niche market.
Sunday morning was even more controversial, courtesy of ‘CMT’, his own unique brand of therapy, which incorporates close up magic to good effect (pun intended). Now he’s smoking…literally…whilst demonstrating how to stop people smoking…and talking about ‘cognitive dissonance’… Some of the therapists in the room (which contained a mixture of wannabe and working stage hypnotists, magicians, hypnotherapists, psychotherapists, NLP practitioners and even a psychiatrist) were not amused, considering him to be wildly irresponsible and totally unethical, but by the end of the day, most had changed their minds, feeling that whatever he may or may not be or believe, he had succeeded in teaching them some powerful lessons.
Hammering the point home, in a Robert Anton Wilsonesqe manner (though I doubt that he’ll like the comparison), he tells his audience “everything I’ve said this weekend is bullshit…if you want it to be…and everything I’ve said this weekend is the truth…if you want it to be,” before returning to stage hypnosis, which he demonstrated at length, with the help of volunteers from the audience. The day then ended with a question and answer session during which he dealt with, amongst other things, professional insurance and Equity membership.
Unsurprisingly, as an experienced performer, Royle makes an engaging and amusing presenter. Admittedly he’s not for the fainthearted…or for those who are afraid of having their belief systems challenged, but his knowledge of magic, mentalism and hypnosis is extensive and together with the DVDs, in which he teaches ways of circumventing the 1952 Stage Hypnotism Act, ‘hypnotricks’, suggestibility tests and his psychology of stage hypnosis (and the accompanying CD Rom which contains his various e-books, seminar notes and more), this training makes a formidable package that will be of great interest to many stage hypnotists, magicians, mentalists and therapists..

STAGE HYPNOTIST – PSEUDO HYPNOTIC STUNTS
I have read many books on apparent Hypnosis and I have to say that this is one of the most concise and economically structured manuscripts I have read. It gives more than enough information and ideas for you to go and try the techniques out, yet doesn’t drag on like other books do! It is direct and to the point without all the waffling.
One thing that struck me most was that Jonathan goes beyond the call of duty by also explaining WHY the effects work, which is vital to know as a performer. Some of the effects I am sure you will have heard of or seen before, yet I have never seen people use these in a show…..and it struck me why not? These feats we have seen could easily be turned into a demonstration of Hypnosis with the clever linguistics Jonathan provides.
I for one can state that using suggestion and linguistics takes a lot of consideration and time, and as an obviously well versed man on NLP and suggestion, Jonathan gives all the details we need to pull off the routines, again explaining WHY the linguistics are important allowing us to adapt and create our very own routines. After the linguistics have been explained Jonathan then goes on to discuss how to make the effect EVEN BETTER by his own personal comments from experience of performing these wonderful pieces of theatre!
Overall an excellent book filled with great effects and easy to do miracles that will have anyone looking like a real Hypnotist immediately. I suggest that when you buy this book, do not undermine the effects, they are not real Hypnosis yet they give the same response, and are totally reliable!
These techniques are extremely well thought out and 100% useable, there is enough information here to do a complete show. Wow..This is the first book I have ever bought that I could use all of the information!

If you are a Psychic Entertainer or Reader looking for something novel to add to your repertoire that will get you noticed then this is the book for you! If you’d rather not get great advice on how to gather lots of Free Media Publicity for your talents then bypass this book!
As far as readings is concerned you will learn about Belly Button Reading and Pet Paw Readings. His method of Belly Button Reading – nicely named as Navel Gazing – is a case study of how to take a standard New Age belief (such as Chakra Points) and turn them into a convincing, commercial and fun method of reading.
You may not take up Navel Gazing Yourself but you will certainly be inspired to come up with your own original reading methods. This is also the first time I’ve seen mention of Psychic Healing in a text for Mentalist’s and his handling of it is something I find acceptable. You don’t make any outrageous claims and what you do could well actually help people!
What’s great in particular about this book is that it doesn’t just give you some great “how tos” but also tells you WHAT to do with the methods. You’ll find out how he has successfully used his methods of Belly Button Reading and Paw Reading for pets to regularly get on Radio, Television and to get lots of features in National Newspapers and Magazines.
As if learning how to read Belly Buttons and Dog’s Paws isn’t enough you also get a heap of stunts suitable for the Psychic Entertainer that are practically guaranteed to get you noticed! Whilst some of them may not be entirely original, Jonathan gives them an update and puts his own unique spin on them. Some of them are risky however and it has to be said you’d need to be pretty sure of your aims to want to carry them out.
Where else would you find valuable information on publicity gaining gems as “Hosepipe Readings” or creating designer babies by Astrology?
All in all, this is a valuable resource for anyone interested in gaining a reputation as a Psychic Wonder Worker – Royle’s Cold Reading methods are amazingly simple and yet uncannily effective & Powerful!

“I have been entertaining as a magician for a number of years and in all that time I have had an interest in the field of hypnotism after seeing a stage hypnotist perform. His act was funny, mysterious and powerful, utilising members of the audience and the use of the right type of music to compliment his act. After all that time it was exactly what I was looking for. What I liked about the courses was the way in which it was written, in easy to understand English. Jonathan Royle the author has been in the business a long time and it shows in this work. The stage hypnosis course not only teaches the art of stage hypnosis, it shows you how to construct a show including the type of gags to use, the types of music to use, the type of person to use, and the type of routines to use in different situations. It even tells you how and where to get more work. Nothing is left out.
The hypnotherapy section of the course is also explained in the same vein making it easy and a pleasure to study. It is also pleasing to note that upon completion of this course and the others available one can qualify for diplomas. There are so many routines to explore that while I have combed through this book cover to cover, I haven’t retained nearly as much as I like.
Personally, one of the most mind-blowing routines in the entire book is Jonathan Royle’s “Royle’s Thoughts on the One-Ahead Principle.”
I challenge you to read this section of the book and not feel energized by what appears to be a simple card routine. It is, for me, one of the most stunning routines I’ve ever read.
I only wish I could have seen it performed and experienced the impossibility of it before reading about the work.
While I don’t expect any Mentalist who hates using playing cards in his/her act to be totally converted after reading that section, I do believe that this routine has the BEST chance to cause some of these folks to re-consider some of their views.

“Killer Konceptions 2010”, edited by Kenton Knepper, proves one thing: you may have purchased “Kolossal Killer” but you really haven’t “gotten” it until you’ve read this ebook.
That’s about as high a compliment as I can give “Killer Konceptions 2010”, and as strong a recommendation. You see, I’ve been a huge fan of the original “Kolossal Killer” since it first came out. I mean huge. As in, even as I type this, I’m ready to go with the thing. I’ve spent hours (years? Could be…) putting together my own routines and gaffs and gimmicks to make the most of Kenton Knepper’s idea. I’ve worked and re-worked those things, of course, and find myself still going back to re-tool them because 1) they’re fun to play with and 2) they are incredibly powerful pieces.
“Killer Konceptions 2010” proves in black-and-white I’m not the only one who can’t stop toying with the idea behind “Kolossal Killer”. Over a hundred pages, this ebook contains so many new methods, new ideas, new schemes, and new presentations that’s it’s almost impossible to get through this book at all: there are so many great ideas here I kept finding myself wanting to try them out before continuing on.
What kind of ideas? Well, that’s hard to say because there are way too many of them to even begin to categorize or describe them except to drop short hints (and the ad copy does well enough there). Let’s put it this way: there are ideas about performing without a wallet and with mutliple wallets; there are ideas about limiting the number of choices and increasing them; there are eerie presentations and groan-inducing gags; there are versions with few cards and versions with no cards, and there are versions that don’t even reference playing cards at all. In other words, there’s something here for just about anyone that does “Kolossal Killer”.
Personally, I found three presentations to be worth the price of the book: “A Haunted Hotel Room” which uses “KK” with pictures of hotel room doors that is just plain creepy; “Hypnotic Killer” which seemingly induces a “KK”-type hallucination onto a spectator; and “Astro Killer”, an idea that moves “KK” into the realm of astrological divination. I’d have been happy if any one of these routines was put up for sale; I’m moreso with these ideas being joined by so many other good ideas.
Good ideas, mind you, that have me going back to my own “KK” routine for some more re-working and re-tooling. Which, of course, makes “Killer Konceptions 2010” even more valuable. How can I not, considering the ideas of Doug Henning, Ed Solomon, and, of course, Knepper himself?
Just one caveat here: you need the original “Kolossal Killer”. It’s not fully explained here and you will definitely need that foundation to get anything out of “Killer Konceptions 2010”.
As I said at the start, you may have “Kolossal Killer”, but to truly appreciate all the beautiful things you can pull off with it, you need this compendium. This truly does take “KK” to the next level and shows just how flexible — and how poweful — that original idea can be.

There are few illustrations because they simply aren’t needed. When they are, the illustrations are excellently done.

This is hard to nail down given the sheer volume of presentations and ideas. Still it’s all about the presentations for “KK” and most of these are stellar.

This triple DVD effort is titled See-Saw Inductions – Stage, Street & Clinical Hypnosis Exposed, and includes over six hours of hypnosis training.
DVD 1 is basically a complete show by Robert Temple, filmed in a pub somewhere. This is really useful to study patter, pacing and style, and sees Robert in a noisy pub environment tacking subjects with very short attention spans. Temple knows his stuff, and even though he’s very young, his confidence and grasp of an audience is impressive.
DVD 2, sees Royle and Temple discuss hypnosis, and Temple shows his ‘See-Saw Induction’, which is very impressive. Royle has toned-down his normal abrasive style, and if he would go slightly more up-market, he would benefit even more. There’s also the ‘Standing/Sitting Crocodile Induction’, and Royle’s ‘Snip & Drop rapid induction.
There’s far too much to talk about in a single review, but this set basically includes all you need to get you kick-started into the world of hypnosis.
This 20+ hour audio and dvd package also contains a 513 page pdf course manual which includes training in advanced levels of hypnosis and NLP, marketing, advertising and promotion, secrets of cold reading, and mentalism effects. And as usual with Jonathan Royle products, it’s all done in a very down-to-earth, raw style. PK

I thought I’d offer an alternative view as I have watched his DVDs (yes I do watch and study as many different people as I can, but I do have a social life honest! )
I borrowed his DVD set (Confessions/Secrets & No Such Thing) from a fellow therapist out of interest and initially did not warm to him or his take on “No such thing as hypnosis”. However I understood how a view such as this would be helpful in terms of protecting a stage hypnotist (or even hypnotherapist) from made up claims in order to procure financial gain from legal compensation.
On his Confessions DVD set he explaind his marketing strategy of being the rudest hypnotist out there and how this has helped promote his business and seminars. He deliberately courts controversy as he believes “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” and let’s be honest, we’ve all heard of him.
He also explains how he was trying to lure Mazur Mahmood (apologies about spelling) from the News of the World to buy these fake coins (and other stuff he had planned) to expose him for creating sensationalist headlines by alledgedly duping celebs. I’m not sure of the validity of this, I am merely recounting what I remember watching him say.
The bit about hypnotising women to believe he was Robbie Williams was also a publicity stunt and the actual programme is shown during the DVD.
Towards the end of the Confessions DVD he does show a more caring side (also in the Hypnotherapy DVDs) and I have to say towards the end I warmed to the guy.
You get what you pay for with Jonathon Royle (or Alex Smith as I believe he’s killed off the Royle character?), he is a stage hypnotist and magician (he demonstrates some great magic tricks which have made me really popular at dinner parties) after all.
I’m putting my head above the papapet (again in order to offer a different view for others who may just be lurking?
It’s easy to join the masses and share their opinion against one person…but how would you feel if you were that person?

I did a weekend course with Jonathan Royale in April 2006. He was very funny, knowledgeable and extremely hospitable. I had ordered most of his DVD’s from amazon and had watched them before the training. I suppose I knew what to expect and he didn’t dissappoint. It was a fun weekend and all attendees seemed to enjoy themselves. I’m not trying to promote him, I’m just being honest here. What I got out of his training was confidence to just do it. I had been studying and attended training hypnosis/NLP courses for 8 years, but without really feeling confident enough to actually work with the general public. You may say that my trainings werent very good if I couldn’t create a confidence state in myself, but I take full responsibilty for that. Anyway, after the training with Jonathan, I had a new sense of confidence and self belief. This has helped me and thousands of my clients both in person and online since. So, for all the faults that have been pointed out in this interesting discussion, I did gain something valuable from him, which I’m very grateful. I found him to be a nice bloke, but that’s just me.
This may seem biased, but I don’t have anything to gain from writing this. I should add that I think other people may take him more seriously than he takes himself. But I aggree, spam can get a bit annoying after a while, as anyone who puts their email address on their website will no doubt aggree. More annoying than that is all the sales calls I get, but don’t get me started on that.

This book is the equivalent of somebody opening your skull and using a whisk on your brain.
It will change the way you perceive the world around you and make you reevaluate every aspect of your life.
I would recommend this book to anybody from people who have a passing interest in the supernatural/ufo’s/time travel, to people who have been studying the subjects for years.
Everybody who reads this book will come away with new nuggets of information. I have read hundreds of books on these subjects but this one is in a class of it’s own. It’s the only one I have reread and am currently reading it for the third time! There is just to much information to only read it once.
This book has the makings of a cult classic, maybe even a book to change the world!

Riddle: What becomes of a person who have been made the center of attention since childhood, is a bit precocious, has little true empathy for others because while they were growing up he was performing – and making money for his parents, living as an extension of their dreams?
If you answered Marjoe Gortner or “Jonathan Royle” you are right. Marjoe Gortner is the American actor who from the age of four was made the center of attention as a child evangelist. For years he toured the country supporting his parents and little sister until his dad skipped town. Then all he had to support was his mom and little sister. He made an expose in 1971 (which became documentary of the year in 1972) and quit evangelism for acting.
If you have seen Alex Smith (AKA Alex-LeRoy AKA Jonathan Royle, Ph.D) you see the same haunted look as you see in Marjoe Gortner in his expose (at roughly the same age as Royle.) They look amazingly similar.
Both seem to be personally shy and perhaps even unsure of themselves, privately, but on stage they light up with a charisma and a knowledge that they can work the crowd and get them to do anything. Marjoe got them singing, and then rythmically and skillfully brought them to Jesus, Royle
gets them into a trance ahd rythmically and skillfully brings out the fool in them.
He is very open about the various stages of his life, what he accomplished and several of the pitfalls of a life such as his. He is very generous with his knowledge and his stories are well chosen.
He seems a bit empty and sad, even when accomplishing his dreams – but what else can he do? I get the impression that he KNOWS he ought to be happy and fulfilled but somehow it seems to elude him on some level.
Parts of the book are disturbing, other parts are actually touching. Royle is bold, and enjoys putting over a good one on the establishment and humanity in general. At times he seems full of bravado and arrogance while at others he is needing reassurance and seems like a lost little boy who has these amazing abilities and is living in a grown up body.
To me, this isn’t a work of “literature,” and is refreshingly not “ghost written” by a professional; it is a man sharing some aspects of himself, and hoping you can use some of it. Ultimately, Royle comes off as not so arrogant, but a man in search of himself, but who is willing to share a lot of his insights, experiences, weaknesses and triumphs.
I definitely recommend it for aspiring stage hypnotists, entertainers, parents who are considering putting their children in show business, and even therapists and counselors.
To me, it was a decent read, and I don’t regret my time in it. Royle does a good job of spinning a good story with a lot of heart and a bit of angst.

Well the ironic thing is, I’m skint but I have trebled my income in 12
months thanks to JR’s course. I know I can and will double my earning
again over the next 6 to 12 months.
I haven’t bought the material mentioned in JR’s post, I simply did his
course. I would love all that material but I am skint due to going
through a bad time like JR once did, so I can’t afford it.
But for those that can afford it, buy it as you will make your money
back fast and become rich as he says. I will be very rich if I keep
growing as I am once I have paid my debts off from my bad time in life
as JR did.

I started off at £55 per session twelve months ago. I now charge £145
for smokers £120 for weight loss and £95 for anything else.
I now have a large number of recommends every week. I even had seven
members of one family.
Things are looking very good for the future.

I read a few months ago on here that some thought this business was
slowing down due to this that and the other. Well I say it’s not if
you get the marketing right and target your clients as I do.
Last year I posted about the deal I had made with several local bars
to stop their clients from smoking. I was on the radio and press all
over the North West as a result and it went very well for me. At the
end of this month I am doing it all over again. The bar chain is
having a stop smoking weekend getting ready for the July ban. They
are selling vodka shots and doing other gimmicks where you spend
money and get one of my stop smoking discount cards. 2000 people
alone go to just one of the bars over the weekend so I should do very
well out of this. The PR Company has gotten involved again, so again
this is another big free ad for me in the press.
I’m telling you this to give some of the new comer’s ideas. I will
report how well it goes early next month. I have only been in the
hypno business twelve months now and already this is my full time
job. I see no reason why £50k to £100k can’t be achieved over the
next year.

decided to just concentrate on smokers because thats where the money is so there

I had been studying and trying to understand hypnosis for quite a few years and, pretty much I had got a handle on it but it wasn’t until I chanced upon the Jonathan Royle complete hypnosis course on eBay that the penny really dropped. I have to say it made quite a clatter!
I am happy to tell the world that it was Alex/Jonathan that finally showed me the truth. Not only that but he even showed me how to make a living at it! Better than a living if I wanted! The course contained LITERALLY everything I would need to start and run a hypnosis business.
Because I ‘got it’ so thoroughly Alex,you will understand why I raise an eyebrow at this diatribe of yours against those you say are condemning you!
If I were to be even a teensy bit cynical at this point I might sugges this would ALSO serve as an interesting advertising pitch! Not to mention adding to your endorsments list!

There’s a saying …if someone isnt talking about you, copying (or stealing) your stuff you arent doing enough! I have several of Jonathan’s products….I buy his products because they are quality products and I always learn something new and keep going back to them to discover new things. His thorough knowledge of Hypnosis, NLP, Persuasion, Mentalism and Internet Marketing still amazes me. I consider him a mentor and friend and I stand by him!

After scouring the web for hypnosis training, I had seen more than enough claims of “the best hypnosis course in the world”. Eventually I decided to give Jonathan/Alex’s course a try. Because they were so much cheaper than everyone else, I wasn’t really expecting too much, but at that price I was willing to take a chance.
The first course was the Hypnosis and NLP course which was held in June 2011 and as I’ve already said, I wasn’t expecting a lot. Now I’ve got to say, I was so surprised at the amount of information that Alex was able to get across in a day. The training was excellent and in an easy to understand language, his subject knowledge was amazing and was obviously based on his extensive experience and knowledge on the subject.
The second course was the one day rapid hypnosis course, also in June 2011 and after the first course, I was really looking forward to this one. After a quick overview of what would be covered on the course, Alex got straight into it and again, there was a massive amount of information passed on. His mix of theory, practice and demonstration meant that the information stuck and you actually got to see how it should be done.
As a follow up to the live courses, Alex also gave a huge amount of back up material for study at your own pace. After hours of trawling through the videos, documents and supporting websites you not only acquire an in-depth knowledge of the subject, but also have the basis to start doing it yourself as a career or hobby.
I won’t lie, the home study courses aren’t fancy production quality dvd’s or endless tomes of re-hashed instruction manuals, so if you’re expecting Hollywood productions, you will be disappointed. What you do get is footage from actual training sessions and demonstrations, you get information which has been distilled down to what is important, what works and how YOU do it. More importantly, and this was apparent on both the live courses and contact since then, Alex is more than happy to help. He doesn’t just sell you something then leave you hanging, but instead is always contactable and willing to share his knowledge with you in a truly honest way, which is very refreshing in this business.
There may be a lot of people out there bad mouthing Alex/Jonathan, but if you give his training and products a go, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed and at least you will then be in a position to decide for yourself if the rumours are true.

I trained with Alex (JR) and did the Complete Mind Therapy course for the day and also i have watched and read many of the products. Alex is a wealth of knowlegde, i think of him as an encyclopedia of Hypnosis, NLP and Hypnotherapy and is someone who i ask advise from. I’m lucky enough though meeting Alex to call him a friend. Alex has a very down to earth teaching style with no BS. I’ve already learned alot from Alex and have no doubt that i will continue to do so for many years to come. Alex is just one of many people i have trained with but one of the best. Don’t listen to what people say go and MEET Alex, he is a true gent and someone i have alot of time for. Alex keep up the good work mate !

i think alex is a great bloke,done one of his courses tells it how it is,and gave me a lot of confidence in this field,not only a great course but keeps in touch if you need any advice.if people want to teach all well and good, but don’t steel other peoples materiel and then slag them off.
I have several products from this man. I have also attended a live training event and, frankly, left wondering what all the negativity is about this man – I don’t do politics you see. He is a very knowledgeable man, he gives it to you straight, too straight for some I admit, but he is blinkin’ good at delivering what he has to say – you’ll never fall asleep (from boredom at least!). I use his stuff and it works. I don’t like the production of his DVDs (many are just compressed video files that need to be watched on a pc rather than a telly – but I am a pragmatic guy and remembered the price I paid). I would go to see him again. If you are open minded, you should go and see him. You’ll wonder what all the fuss is about.
Having attended Alex’s live trainings and having also purchased many of his dvd’s I can honestly say Alex is at the top of the game. He is a well established and accomplished Hypnotist (FACT), who is always there to offer professional advice, and even when the enquiries aren’t in his area of expertise he puts you in touch with a professional who knows the area. Having trained with many professional bodies, attended numerous training seminars and gained knowledge from most training, I really have to say that Alex’s courses are better and more informative and certainly blow the lid of any mysticism that is all to often portayed in our field. In all honesty I am a far better therapist and stage hypnotist for having met Alex, and I can’t thank him enough for his support and advice that have enabled me to become the professional self employed hypnotist who is now building a celebrity client list, that I have now become. First off I would like to Thank Alex (JR) for his outstanding training presentations. They are down to earth lessons that a common person can understand and put to practical use. No BS,No Hype just the facts without all the bells and whitsles. I have been involved in Hypnosis for about 20 + years mainly for personal interest . My first training was with The Atwood Institute in th USA and it was an excellent course. The courses that I have been involved in taught by Alex have far surpassed any I have engaged in,and the enormous amount of supplemental material provided with the courses is of great benefit to follow up on the training,Plain and Simple is all I can say.

Jonathan Royle / Alex presents his material very candidly! I appreciate that! I have purchased a number of his training items (living in the States, live-training is a far-reach option for me) and I love each of them. Each item has over-delivered. Being a clinically certified hypnotherapist and a certified stage hypnotist for 6 years, in addition to my initial training, I have taken many additional training courses. Jonathan’s training materials have taught me many items, techniques, insights, perspectives that I never learned in my initial live training courses! Most recently, I purchased the Transparency Template – LOVE IT. Great work, Jonathan, thank you. I’m constantly going back to it, it is beyond just training, it is a resource. Additionally, Jonathan has extended himself for consult, even simple questions, regarding anything hypnosis, hypnotherapy, NLP, Complete MInd Therapy, stage hypnosis, etc. He’s a personal person – the hypnotist’s hypnotist. I have bought a good number of JR’s materials and I have to say that I have found them very helpful and useful. I have to confess that there are times when certain things jar with me. Does he need to swear quite so much? But having said that, there is no doubting his considerable gifts and his insights. This does not mean, of course, that anyone who buys his material will automatically be as good as he is. I have no regrets about having also trained face to face with other trainers. But I have frequently returned to JR’s materials as a resource and will continue to do so. He has made a major contribution to hypnosis and NLP at an early age and it will be interesting to see his direction in his future maturer years. Thanks, Alex (or whatever your name is this week!)

I can’t thank Jonathan / Alex enough for the personal training, business advice and more recently the opportunity to be a part of his excellent seminars. Over the years I have learnt a wealth of information that has given me the chance to make a huge career change, and meet some great people (other hypnotists & the general public) around the country on the way!
Alex is a fantastic guy, who tells it like it really is – his no-holds barred approach is direct, entertaining and most importantly information intensive. But his best attribute has to be his generousity with his knowledge… and I seroiusly doubt that there is another hypnotic trainer that could rival his experience or expertise in the subject.
You know you have been trained by one of the best when, at the end of a seminar, delegates who have already been in the business for several years, and have been trained by someone else, state that they have learnt more in 2 days than in all the other courses they have attended!
It is a pleasure and an honour to be able to call Alex a friend, mentor & colleague – and those that insist on knocking him with lies, slander & hostility are jealous individuals who have obviously got a lot to lose – but might find that, if they too were to train with him & get to know him as a person, they would have a lot more to gain!

At the moment I have 10 DVD’s produced by Alex and can honestly say that I can’t find any fault. His information on hypnosis and NLP are worth many times the cost of the materials. I then attended one of his training days held with Paul Voodini and can reccomend his easy method of reading tarot. He always over-delivers on the materials that he gave us to take home and I now make money utilising the techniques he has demonstrated.
Due to one of his freebies, “How to run a smoking cessation clinic” I listened to his inductions. As a 40 a day smoker I haven’t had a cigarette since. Cheers Alex you’ve saved me a fortune.
OK DVD contents. Being shot mainly in the training room, the quality is not as good as you would get at the cinema but you are not paying for that. You pay for first-rate information and that it certainly is. Straightforward no BS hypnosis and NLP info. As to Alex he’s a top guy, top trainer and a real star.
JR is a true teacher and giver of knowledge. His courses and videos are a must have
in your learning. He is true to his craft and has a great sense of humour and makes learning a joy in so many ways. JR cares and you can see that he really does enjoy what he does. I have always learnt something from the course I have been on. I watch the videos from the courses and they remind me of what I have learnt from the coures and I can still learn from then, I have nothing but good to say about JR. Give him credit for what he does.He gives you the facts and no BS like other trainers who take days and days and days to complete their training. He cuts straight to the important. I enjoy his courses and DVDs.

The transparency template is a modern encyclopaedia of Stage Hypnosis on DVD. With more information than you will ever be able to use it covers the subject in depth.
Jammed with inductions, suggestibility tests and just about every aspect of performing stage hypnosis you could think of. It also has well researched sections that cover the legal, health and safety aspects something that every hypnotist should know about before stepping on to the stage. I recommend it for that alone.

Hi, just purchased a lot of your DVDs in one go. Once I have watched them I’ll post again. On the whole though I have seen the ‘crap’ on certain sites that is posted, but on the other hand I have seen the people you have helped/trained and been in touch with one of these persons. I personally would like to thank you for your help and guidence so far. If you want to follow certain people in the lies/slander then fool you. Take the plunge and be your own judge.
I have been studying Alex’s stuff ever since I started learning hypnosis, and I still find beautiful gems of information from his trainings even though I am an advanced master level practitioner now. Alex gives awesome information about hypnosis, that I have never seen any other practitioner teach, and I have been educated by at least 20 of the top Hypnotists and hypnotherapists in the world. I especially like the “no fail” physical techniques that I have only seen Alex teach. The details he provides gives his students an extra level of confidence, the details are absolute gems. When you study Alex’s material it is obvious that he is passionate about his work, and he wants you to learn how use them effectively so that you can succeed at any level you are motivated to achieve.
