AND FOR THE ULTIMATE INSIDE STORY ON THE SHOW

So The Apparently Good News for all Stage Hypnotists in UK is that Keith Barry is making a Hypnosis Game Show for the ITV Television Station.
Now bear in mind that in the Past NUMEROUS Pilots have been made for Television Game Show Formats in England NONE OF WHICH HAVE EVER MADE IT TO BRITISH TELEVISION…
Years ago Andrew Newton Hypnotist made a game show with Comedian Tom O Conner Hosting, and to be honest it had a format that makes a lot more sense than the one that has just been commissioned and yet it never got commissioned for a series.
Anthony Jacquin made the Pilot for “I know what you did last Friday” and although versions of it have been made in some other countries (using other local hypnotists to front the hypnosis part) it has (as yet) never been commissioned for British TV.
I myself Jonathan Royle formerly known as Alex-Leroy (https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.royle) did some filming some years back for a Dating Show Hypnosis Pilot that was provisionally to be called “Love Trance” and also on another occasion did some filming for a pilot that was to be called “Stepford Husbands” where men were to be hypnotised to act like “Stepford Wifes” and I gather there was also going to be a chance to win cash along the way element to it.
Neither of these ended up getting commissioned, despite having done filming and had various production meetings and given tons of input and ideas to help improve the projects at hand.
So why is it, that as yet no “Hypnosis Game Show” format has ever been commissioned in Britain??
I’m not sure to be honest, however look at the link below and consider the format that has been commissioned and it makes the mind boggle for reasons I will state in a few moments.
You see surely if the contestants were truly hypnotized and given post hypnotic triggers to do things that would affect their chances of completing tasks, then surely if they were truly hypnotized then once given those triggers THEY WOULD FAIL THE TASK as surely if they are truly hypnotised they would do exactly as they have been instructed to do???
Now as you all now I openly state that HYPNOSIS DOES NOT EXIST and with that in mind, the whole premise of the show becomes ridiculous, those taking part will be motivated by the chance to make money and get their 15 minutes of fame to do as the “Hypnotist” commands them to, and even though this means ACTING as though they are “hypnotized” and thus reacting to the Post Hypnotics and Losing some of the money on offer (so it seems real) they will of course happily do this for their 15 minutes of fame and the chance to get some cash or prizes.
Perhaps that is why such a show has not been commissioned in England before, perhaps the powers at be looked at the TV Show Pilots previously and had the good sense to realize that HOWEVER REAL HYPNOSIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE such a format is invariably most likely to look “Faked” and “Set up” whether it is or not.
I truly hope that I am wrong and that there is more to it than what is mentioned in the Mirror Article…
There’s a chance that this show could be Awesome and lead the general public to wanting to see a Live Comedy Stage Hypnotist Show in which case great news for all UK Stage Hypnotists.
There is however (at this stage) just as much chance of the general reaction being the other way around and the general view turning out to be a negative one, we will all just have to wait and see.
One thing I do predict however is that this show will bring the ANTI-HYPNOSIS types out of the woodwork in the media again…
The types who set up C.A.S.H. (The Campaign Against Stage Hypnotists) and tried to get Stage Hypnosis Show banned in England.
BOTTOM LINE = I also believe (my prediction) that this show (and other Hypnosis TV Shows like it that I have heard are in the pipe line for British, European and International TV) will ultimately do more harm than good for Stage Hypnosis as a whole.
The “Mystique” will further be removed and I see the Ambulance Chasers and where there is blame there is a claim brigade going after Hypnotists again..
And in that regard as much as it sounds like a blatant advert if your a STAGE HYPNOTIST and you don’t already have a copy, you’d be wise to get THE TRANSPARENCY TEMPLATE immediately – https://sellfy.com/p/3JIZ/
Mark my words, the time is fast approaching when getting Licenses/permissions granted for Hypnosis Shows will become increasingly HARDER and those who do not have a full Written Risk Assessment for each of their shows and those who do not keep a video file/record of every show done, will be the ones putting themselves at most risk of being sued for Psychological and/or Physical damage…
And god help those who don’t have Stage Hypnosis Specific Public Liability Insurance..
