WELL IT SEEMS MY PREDICTIONS WERE RIGHT
THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ON SOCIAL NETWORKS ARE SAYING THAT THE SHOW WAS RUBBISH AND LOOKED FAKE

NOTE = At the link that follows I discuss my thoughts on
whether this show will prove Posiitve or Negative for
British Stage Hypnotists.
You’re Back In The Room, Hypnosis “Hypnotised Challenge” Television ITV Game Show Format to Be Hosted by Phillip Schofield with Mentalist & Hypnotist Keith Barry – Is this Good or Bad News for British Comedy Stage Hypnosis Shows and Hypnotism Performances or Bad?
With Regards to the above Photograph it is Copyright “Tuesdays Child” and also “ITV” and appears within this Mail on Sunday Article about the show entitled:
‘Don’t be hypnotised by this fraudulent nonsense’: Therapists savage ITV’s You’re Back In The Room over claims it could be exploiting ‘vulnerable’ people
- New show where public are hypnotised branded a fraud by experts
- Claims it is ‘TV brainwashing’ and exploiting vulnerable people
- ITV bosses said duty of care to contestants was of ‘paramount importance’
I’m also genuinely concerned that the broadcast of these TV Shows will re-ignite the interest into so called “Street Hypnosis” whereby often poorly trained wannabe Hypnotists go around messing with peoples minds on the streets and out and about in public, almost always without having the correct Licenses and Legal Documents in place and often without any care and attention to “Health & Safety” and just as scary also often without any Public Liability Insurance being in place.
Proof that Street Hypnosis (without the right documents in place and licenses applied for) being ILLEGAL and more on this subject and angle can be seen at this link:
Finally in terms of my views, opinons and experiences of How and Why ALL HYPNOSIS really works (both Stage and Therapy) I suggest that you take a look at the article here:
I think that should make my position quite clear, but just to be sure you may wish to look at this relevant Press Release on the subject as well
HYPNOSIS GAME SHOWS ON TELEVISION – (Some HIstory)
Just as a matter of Historical Interest for my Hypnosis Friends, the forerunner to “You’re Back In The Room” (which was to be called Head Trip when Rufus Hound made a teaser for the show in 2008) is Mesmerized as per: http://www.ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Mesmerized
This was originally made as a Pilot in 1993 with Andrew Newton Hypnotist and then again in 2008 with David Knight as the Hypnotist.
When the 1993 Pilot failed to get commissioned the company turned it into a board game in 1995 http://www.foxtotum.co.uk/mesmerized.html
I helped launch the Board game by doing tons of media interviews and Hypnotizing (along with some other hypnotists) people inside the London Planetarium and also Madame Tussauds.
And it was probably another reason why the 2008 version of YBITR did not get commissioned as they had competition doing the rounds at around the same time.
I can’t comment on the 2008 version of either format, but I can say (as my company transferred all of Andrew Newtons VHS Tapes to DVDS for him) that the 1993 version of Mesmerised was WAY BETTER than what we had the misfortune to see on our TV Screens Last night.
Indeed 2008 really was the year when every man and his dog was pitching a Hypnosis Game Show idea, Eyeworks used Anthony Jacquin in the end (I turned it down as did several of my students) and made a pilot of “I Know What you did last Friday” – http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/format-focus-i-know-what-you-did-last-friday/1898282.article
And around the same time I was involved in making the “teasers” for a Hypnotic Dating Game Show entitled “Love Trance” and also a format called “Stepford Husbands” a role reversal game show based on Stepford Wifes…
They were all getting hawked around at the same time and in 2008 NONE of them got commissioned.
Having seen the Pilot for “I Know What you did last Friday” it was frankly a better format and looked more believable than what we saw last night.
God help us when/if “Stars Under Hypnosis” hits the screens – http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2014/oct/15/stars-under-hypnosis-french-tv-show-coming-to-britain
Last nights bunch of attention seekers looked faked enough, imagine how bad a bunch of attention seeking celebrities could end up looking…
