A.P.H.P. = STATEMENT FROM JONATHAN ROYLE HYPNOTIST ON A.P.H.P.

Following various comments recently made by various people within a thread on a fellow Hypnotherapists Facebook wall I would like to make a few facts very clear..

*Above at top of this page is an image of a Membership Certificate dated 1990 signed by Dr. Brian Howard to me from “The Association of Professional Hypnotherapists and Parapsychologists” of which the initials are A.P.H.P.

I have another of these somewhere dated 1989 which is when I first purchased the A.P.H.P. Home Study Course from Dr. Brian Howard and passed the exam that came with it.

*These APHP Home Study Hypnotherapy Courses were advertised regularly in the British Publication “The Exchange and Mart” amongst others and thus it is possible to prove in court were it ever needed to be done that the use of APHP as initial for a Hypnotherapy Association traces back to the mid to late 80’s at least.

*In around the early to mid 90’s I gained permission and legal right from Dr. Brian Howard to sell his APHP Home Study Packages and to use the APHP name.

*I shortly after altered the use of APHP from meaning “The Association of Professional Hypnotherapists and Parapsychologists” as seen in the example below to “The Association of Professional Hypnotherapists & Psychotherapists”

*BEFORE 1999, a one Terrence Watts of the Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis purchased one of my MindCare Home Study Courses from “Prospect House Publishing” whom I had engaged to do my marketing at the time.

*As shown on his own website of https://www.aphp.co.uk/index.php from which I quote: “APHP was established as a non-profit association in 1999”, funny that as APHP as a Hypnotherapy Association was in existence first by Dr. Brain Howard and then by me well BEFORE 1999.

*Terrence even had the audacity well over a decade ago now to send us a Lawyers letter threatening Legal Action for infringing his Trademark…. WE LAUGHED as I am sure you will as well when you consider the very real facts above… Needless to say nothing further occurred as in truth it is me that has (if I so desired) the Legal Right to get his APHP Trademark revoked…

*He only registered APHP as a Trademark on 3rd October 2000 as shown here https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00002247197 and it is due to be renewed on 3rd October 2020.

*He knows that he got the idea of APHP from me and does not have a legal leg to stand on hence on the homepage of his own APHP website https://www.aphp.co.uk/index.php it sates and I quote:

“Please note: There is another hypnotherapy organisation that uses the letters ‘APHP’, though we hold the registered trademark. If you are seeking to confirm the certification of a particular therapist but cannot find them on this register, please contact us on 01702 3***** and we will confirm their membership or otherwise.”

*Anyone who knows anything about Trademark Law will I am sure confirm to you that I have based on all of the above more than enough Legal Rights and Proof available to me to have Mr. Watts Trademark Revoked and signed over to me, but I have not bothered to do so as frankly life is too short…

*And I also find it HILARIOUS & IRONIC that a so called “Ethical” Association is using a name Taken Without Permission from someone else, namely myself and prior to me Dr. Brian Howard.
