As many of you already know, back in 1998 I set out to expose the
unethical, dodgy, dishonest and often arguably illegal techniques
used by the now jailed and disgraced undercover journalist “Fake
Sheikh” Mazher Mahmood at the now shut down and shamed
“News of the World” newspaper.
Well recently it occurred to me, after discovering that information
had come to light about Mahmood in other cases that had cast
doubt on his reliability as a “witness” and made other people
question the “validity” of his writings, that perhaps what I set
out to do was kept quiet from others….
With that thought in mind check out these facts and remember
that one of the many stories that the News of the World published
that motivated me to try and expose what I had heard were unethical, dishonest and arguably illegal techniques was that of John Alford.
The reason being?? Well I was like many others a fan of him in
ITV’s “London’s Burning” and had also grown up watching him
on BBC’s “Grange Hill”

Yes there were other peoples stories that motivated me as well,
but without doubt John’s was one of the main ones…
“FAKE SHEIKH STING ON JOHN ALFORD”
Took Place during August 1997….
After a ten day trial during which John represented himself
and pleaded NOT GUILTY, he was found Guilty on Wednesday
5th May 1999 as per:
He was then sentenced to Nine Months in Prison on Wednesday
26th May 1999 as per:
“ROYLE’S (ALEX SMITH’S) FAKE SHEIKH STING”
My actual meetings and communications with Mazher Mahmood
Took place in very late March and early April 1998…
The fabricated article appeared in “The News of the World” on
Sunday 12th April 1998.
I finally entered a late plea of Guilty for reasons explained on
my website at www.circusofthemind.net and was sentenced
to 6 Months in Prison on Monday March 1st 1999.
WHY DID JOHN NEVER GET TOLD ABOUT MY CASE?
Consider that John’s Trial ended with him being found Guilty
on Wednesday 5th May 1999 and even when you consider that
it was a ten day trial and allow time for the Jury to make their
decision etc, it becomes clear that I WAS FOUND GUILTY
AND SENTENCED FIRST on Monday 1st March 1999
(after entering a late plea of Guilty for the reasons
explained on www.circusofthemind.net )
As this article from Tuesday March 2nd 1999 which was in
The Manchester Evening News Illustrates it was proven
by me in Court that I knew who Mazher Mahmood was, had
engineered my meetings with him and it was my intention to
expose his dodgy, unethical and arguably illegal techniques.
Sadly it seems that this was never brought to John’s attention at
the time, otherwise the revelations in my case could well have possibly helped John in the defense of his.
On 14th September 2000 the BBC reported that John Alfords
appeal had been turned down:
Again it seems that unfortunately John had not been made
aware by anyone of my case by then either.
However John is now very much aware of my case as we
are both being represented by the same Lawyer Siobhan
Egan of Lewis Nedas Law in our appeals to the CCRC
to have our Convictions overturned.
And Mark Lewis is the Lawyer representing us both for
our Civil Cases against Rupert Murdoch’s News UK.
Also now much other information, facts and evidence
further incriminating “Fake Sheikh” Mazher Mahmood
have come to light as can be seen on my site of
Last but not least lets not forget that Mahmood has now
been jailed for Conspiracy to Pervert The Course of
Justice and exposed as the Liar and Manipulator &
Fabricator of evidence that many of us have known him
to be for the best part of twenty years.
And as for the “News of the World” well they shut their days years ago now in disgrace after the Hacking of Murdered Schoolgirl Milly Dowler came to light.
Since then Phone Hacking has been exposed as a massive scandal and a podcast called “UNTOLD” about The Daniel Morgan Murder (most investigated murder in British History) has illustrated corruption at the highest levels of the Police, Media and other officials…
As time will show these very deep rabbit holes, it is rapidly coming to light have lots of common threads and themes running between them..
