I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on where the “Print” (I assume that is what it is as note on back seems to indicate original was bought by someone else) shown in the 5 images below came from ?
I mean originally came from as I got this from the Estate of my Late Magical Mentor Jack Griggs former Editor of The British Ring of the IBM Magazine “The Budget”
It is contained in a frame which I do not want to remove the back of (which is taped in place) so I can only assume it is a print, or could it have been cut out of a book or a magazine or similar ?
In any event The note stuck on back says it was painted originally by Charles Folkard –
Anyhow if the original was bought by him, then this can NOT be the original and must at best be a print…
Or could it have been published in a magazine or book and then cut out and framed by Jack Griggs ?
Sadly it never occurred to me to ask him when he was alive.
The Bottom right corner has Signature of Folkard (which I assume is printed?) and the number 40
Could the 40 be that it was painted in 1940 or that it is number 40 of a limited print run ?
I have absolutely no idea and as I say don’t want to take the frame about to see if any clues on back of the item.
All I know is that Jack Griggs had this on his living room wall from the moment I first visited his house in 1987 and it could well have been there for many years before that.
Any insights anyone may have will be most appreciated.
